Afrinolly Media Parley With Makinde Adeagbo

Earlier this month, we were invited to an exclusive beta testing launch of the Afrinolly app. The event which holds tomorrow, August 26th will provide initial access of the Afrinolly app to selected Nigerian IT and Entertainment bloggers in Lagos.

After this event, the app would be available for download on your Android and Blackberry devices from September 1, 2011. According to Chike Maduegbuna, MD of Fans Connect Online, the creators of this app:

“The aim is to introduce the app and then install it on your Android/BlackBerry devices for testing and review. This will happen before the app is made available to the public.”

With the Afrinolly app, you can view movie trailers; get user movie reviews; watch music videos and comedy; watch full length movies; look up upcoming movies; read latest entertainment and celebrity news; share movie trailers and news with friends via email, Facebook, Twitter and other sharing apps.

The participants at this launch will get a chance to meet with Makinde Adeagbo, an ex-Facebook software engineer who has worked at various parts of the Facebook stack on projects including search, new user orientation, photos, performance, events, and client software.

Makinde is famous for being part of the team that reduced Facebook’s over 1 MB of Javascript to only 2 KB. He now focuses on Facebook’s front-end performance and works at the company’s headquarters in Palo Alto.

Update: Makinde was a Facebook engineer until January 2011 and has now moved to Dropbox.
